As ocean overwash and weather-related school closures have become more frequent for our Cape Hatteras Elementary School and Cape Hatteras Secondary School families, Dare County Schools has developed a plan to expand opportunities for students to receive in-person instructional support on remote learning days from Dare County Schools staff.

 

The Dare County Schools Hatteras Satellite Location Plan establishes learning sites south of Oregon Inlet so students and staff can access a nearby location when travel to Cape Hatteras Elementary School, Cape Hatteras Secondary School, or Dare Early College is not possible due to coastal flooding or ocean overwash.

 

If the satellite location plan is activated, staff and families will receive advance communication with detailed instructions.
