After-School Enrichment Program
CHES offers quality after‑school care for students in its After-School Enrichment Program (ASEP).  Each school day* until 6 PM, ASEP creates an environment where children can feel safe, while providing an opportunity for academic and social growth.  Using resources made available through the Alliance for a Healthier Generation "Empower Me" curriculum, ASEP offers homework assistance, structured and free play activities, arts and crafts, guest speakers, and occasional field trips.

The Program has two enrichment activities that are part of its childhood obesity prevention initiative.  To begin with, GO FAR (Go Out For A Run) promotes healthy eating habits, physical fitness, character building and the benefits of staying fit and healthy. Students train twice weekly after school for eight weeks to prepare to run a 5K road race or one mile fun run, and ASEP offers both Fall and Spring GO FAR programs.  In addition to GO FAR, ASEP also offers weekly zumba.

For more information on ASEP, please refer to to the parent handbook (here), or contact CHES Site Coordinator, Janice Darlington, at (252) 995-6196, ext. 3662.

To register your student for ASEP, download the 2015-2016 application here.  Rates begin at $50 per week for families with one child in the program; $80 for two, and $105 for three.

* The After School Enrichment Program is not available on Saturday make-up days.
Parents should plan for their children's care as they would on any other Saturday after school is dismissed mid-day.
